If you are a spouse or dependent child of the covered employee and the terminating event of the group health insurance is due to the death of the covered employee, divorce or legal separation, or loss of dependent status, you may be able to retain the coverage for up to 36 months. If you decide to take coverage, the cost is the full premium, plus an administrative fee.
